·       Open PB/P43. S read aloud the text in box 1. Write the example sentence on the board:

If  it    rains     tomorrow, I    will stay     at home.

                                              If   +   present                  +  future

·       S read aloud the ins’s, example and explanation.

·       Write the 2nd example in box2:

If we  did not have  this agreement, 131 million extra cases of skin  cancer would   occur   before 2075.

if     +   past                                                                          + would

·       Point to the first sentence on the board and say:

It is possible that it will rain tomorrow and that I will stay at home. So we say If+ present + the future

·       Point to the second sentence and say:

But in this sentence , it is not really possible that the extra cases will occur. It is hardly possible                  because we already have an agreement. So we say If + past + would.

·       S look at the first pic on PB/P43, Ask: Do you think this will happen? no . Why? Because you can not go to the sun by bicycle. S read the example next to the pic.

·       S look at the second pic. Ask: Do you think this will happen? no. Why not? Because people don’t throw glasses to break them. S read the example next to the pic.

·       Give S some substitution:

walked........2.000......../London.......2 years...../ flew ...........5 hours......./ ...... expensive.

·       Open WB/P38/A, read the ins’s, 2S read the example of the con, a S read the answer to the Q . S answer the rest.

·       S look at P/39, read aloud the ins’s, S read the example. S write the answer to Q 1 7 2 in their WB.

·       Hang poster 9, point to the title and read it (PROBLEM, CAUSE and RESULT), S read aloud the inf in the 3 columns in turn.

·       Introduce the new voc: Coolant: a chemical that provides cooling. Release: to let something or someone go out. Damage: to do something bad to something. S repeat these words.

·       Hang poster 10, read the title: (Pollution of the Earth’s Atmosphere). A S read the 1st sentence then ask: Which part of this table (poster 9) does the first sentence of the para come from? It comes from “pollution of the earth’s atmosphere “ and “ Factories and cars send smoke and gases into the air.

·       Repeat the previous step for the other 2 sentences in the para on poster 10.
