   ·   Open PB/P32, elicit the words S underlined, show S the words on the cards.

  Þ  S read line 28: The circular  fields have been made out of the desert through the use of modern machinery and technology. Introduce the new words here (S understand the new voc from similarity):

  1.  circular: (adj) What shape are the fields like? circles.

  2.  fields: piece of land where plants grow and animals feed.

  3.  machinery: (n) What 2 things did they use to make these circular fields? machinery and technology, machinery is a group of machine.

  4.  technology: (n)What word do you know that looks like ‘technology’? technical (adj)

  5.  use: (n)  /ju:s/ not (v) /ju:z/.

  6.  through: how did they make the fields? through the use of machinery. Can you use another word? by using.

   ·   Turn PB/P35, S read the previous words.

 

 

  Þ  Turn PB/P31, read: Khaled a graduate of ........three-lane.higway.

  7.  graduate:(n) /-ît/ [the verb is the same spelling /gràj¹،-ât´/ ] What you are called when you finish studying at a university.

  8.  college: What other word we use instead of college? university

  9.  highway: What do we drive on? roads. So a highway is a kin of road.

 10. lane: means: The highway has 3 lanes.

   ·   S read the previous words on P/35.

 

 

  Þ  Turn PB/P32, show S the last new words, S read them on the passage, try to understand from similarity:

 11. provide: lighting was provided by oil lamps. This means that oil lamps provided lighting. What could we use instead of ‘provide’? give

 12. entertainment: Listening to stories is one kind of ~. Can you think of other things for ~ in the evening? watching TV, playing football,...

 13. spacious: like space, an empty area. Do you think the house is large or small? big

 14. on tap: Where people get water from (centuries ago/ in modern houses)?  from well/ taps

 15. recently: The hospital was completed recently. Do you think it was built a long time ago or a short time ago? a short time ago.

 16. latest: last is the opposite of early (a long time ago). = recently.
