   ·   Open PB/P32, ask S to find out the new words and their line #’s which I’ll show them on the cards:

  1.  schooling: (L16) What do school give you?

  2.  copying: (L17) if you copy a sentence, you look at it and write the same thing. How did Hamad learn to farm?

  3.  grandson: (L25)like grandfather, but with son not father.

  4.  neighbouring: (L26) your neighbour sits next to you, near you, near by. Where is Khaled’s farm?

  5.  youth: (L28) look like young.

  6.  heating: (L36) What do electric fires, gas fires, oil fires give you?

  7.  moved into: (L38) Khaled and his family have moved into a new house. Have they gone into the house for a few minutes or is it their new home?

   ·   Write this question on the board: (5m)to read and find the answer ( look for the other new words )

   ·   Ask S to tell me about the new words they don’t know:

  1.  used to: (L4) read : ...but he is retired now.” do you think the 1st part of the sentence tells you about the past, present or the future? the past. So what is another way of saying, “Hamad used to be a farmer”? Hamad was a farmer.

  2.  retired: (L4) Is Hamad still a farmer? No he is not. Why not? Because he is old. He has stopped working: he is retired.

  3.  Whole: (L5) Has he lived some or all of his life in the same village? all.

  4.  chopped straw: (L11) It is from dried grain plants, like wheat. First, it is chopped = (cut) into pieces and then it is mixed in the mud.

  5.  formal: (L16) done in a fixed and accepted way.

  6.  observe: (L17) If Hamad wanted to do the same as his father, What must he do first? ( watch him)

  7.  remedy: (L19) =  medicine

  8.  hardly: (L24)  =  almost not at all.

  9.  century: (L24) = 100 years.

 10. district: (L27) It is an area or a small region.

 

 

   ·   Open WB/P29, read the ins’s, S should know what they have to do.

   ·   Turn WB/P30, E.X., B, read the ins’s,  Say: This will be your homework.

   ·    S look for the new words (while reading for answers), underline them, We will study those words in the next lesson.
