· Open R/P 16, look at the pic and the title, S read the title. · Look at page 17, ask: What do you do before you begin reading the passage? Look at the title, pic's, and the way the passage arranged. · Ask: What page does the passage begin on? P/21. What is the title of the passage? Early Traders of the Arabian Peninsula. What does this passage end on? P/23. · Look at P/23, there are two #'s, what are they? 8 and 9, how many paragraph are there in (8&9) ? 1 in parag #8 and 2 in parag 9, how many sections are there in this passage? 9, how many paragraphs are there in this passage? 11. · look at the 1st section. What is the title of that section? The geographical importance of the Peninsula. Repeat the same with the other 8 sections. · Close R, ask: What do you understand from the title, the pic's, and the sections?... past.... moving goods.... carpets by land.... by sea.... and the central position of the Arabian Peninsula. in this movement.....
· Open R/P/18, read the ins's ex.B silently as I read it aloud, look at the pic and the list there, S read the words in the box , S should understand the words. · Look at section 1, find the words 'Nile' underline them, read the words around ' the Nile' , read them aloud, ask: how do you know that ' the Nile' is a river? It is in a list with ' Indus', Tigris', and Euphrates', and the word 'Rivers' comes after them. Look at P/18 answer Q 1( 5m ), S read the parts which tell about those words. · Look at P/19, read aloud the ins's ex. C. look at the 1st word: 'incense' , find it in the passage and underline it, read the words around it. Ask: Why did they like incense? because it smelled good when they burned it. · ( 5m ) to look at the other 8 words . Say: You should find those words and their sentences in the passage.
· Turn to page 20. Say: You are going to read the passage at home for homework. · Ask: What should you do first? We 'll. read these Q's below to see if we understand them, we are not going to answer them yet. · Go through the 5 Q's , S should understand them, S should think about them when they read the passage. · Ask: What is the second step? Read the passage silently, underline words we do not know them. Think about those words and try to guess their meaning. · Ask: What is the third step? Try to explain what I read to someone. · What is the fourth step? read the passage silently, look in the dictionary for the words I still do not understand, and look for the answers to the Q's on P/20. · There will be a test next lesson, the marks will be part of your final marks. |
HOMEWORK: Read the passage P/21-23 twice and write the answers to the Q's on P/20. |
