   ·   write this instruction on the board:

Ask if we are on page 24.

   ·   Say, if I say to you , "Ask if we are on page 24", how do you ask question? What do you say to me? to elicit:

Are you on page 24?

   ·   Write this question on the board under the ins.

   ·   Ask, Why is there a full stop after the teacher's ins and a question mark after the pupil's question?

   ·   Repeat the 1st 2 steps with:

Ask what ' permanently' means?

 

What does 'permanently' mean?

 

   ·   Point to the 2 ins's on the board and say, These ins's are statements, they are not questions. In statements, the subject comes first and the verb comes after it.

   ·   Point to the 2 questions and say, These are questions. In questions like these, the verb comes first and the subject comes after the verb.

   ·   Show them some ins's on cards let S ask questions.

 

 

   ·   Say , with some ins's, the order of the subject and the verb does not change in the question:

Ask who defeated the Romans.

Who defeated the Romans.

   ·   Say, In this question, the word order is the same as in the ins. Ask, Why is there no change in the word order? Because the answer 'The Muslims' is the subject of the sentence.

   ·   Show S some ins and let them ask subject question.

   ·    a S will ask his mate:

 How are you?

   ·   Point to the 2nd S, ask:

What did he ask?

·        He will say:

 He asked me how I was.

   ·   Do the same with:

Are you well?

What did he ask you?

He asked me if I was well.

 

   ·   Open PB/P24, a S read the text aloud.

 

·         Open WB/P19 and 20, do the first 2 Q's of ex. A, B and C orally. S
