   ·   Open PB/P20, introduce the words in the last para, S read the sentences which contain the new words:

  Þ  against: We'll look at it in the Word Study later.

  Þ  successful: means that Muslims won,. We'll look at it in the Word Study later.

  Þ  control: =(manage),to decide what to do and then to be able to do it yourself, ask: who controls a plane? a pilot. who controls a country? a government.

  Þ  Latin: Say: Arabic is a language and ~ is a language too.

  Þ  coast: We'll look at it in the Word Study later.

  Þ  occupy: = control, and in this sentence, to ~ means to live or to be somewhere.

  Þ  rule: To ~ means to decide what people must do and what they must not do.

   ·   Turn WB/P15, look at True and False exercise. S read the ins's, divide the class into small groups and do it, ( 4m ).

   ·   Close WB , look at PB/P21, S read each word and it's definition, others read the examples, and others do the tasks marked with asterisk(*). The new words are: Antarctica, positive, superlative, Pacific, Arctic, Antarctic, permanent, and + the previous new words.

 

 

 

   ·   Close WB, look at PB/P20, look at the 1st sentence, the verb is were written, ask: Is this verb present or past? past, say: It’s two words verb ’to be’ - and the past participle - ‘written’, write the 2 words then write Passive above them. Read the 2nd sentence, write was taken under were written, ask S look for passive verbs for (3m).

   ·   Look at line 8, ask: What did Muslims capture in 634 AD? They captured Damascus. Ask: Is the verb: captured in the past or present? past. Is it passive? Does it have verb ‘to be’, write the verb captured the write Active above it. S look for other past verbs.
