· S exchange their readers, open P/ 5. Ask: What does pic 1 show? S correct each others. · Turn to P/7 repeat the previous step for the ex. D. · Give the S their readers. · Turn to page 8, read aloud the title and the ins's. S read the first step in Arabic silently. · Ask: What are you going to do first? read the 6 Q's on this page and make sure I understand the Q's. · Ask: Are you going to answer the Q's now? No. · S read aloud the 6 Q's. Everyone should understand the Q's. · Say:
Þ You are going to read the passage.
Þ You are going to underline the words that you don't know.
Þ You are going to try to guess what these words mean. Þ If you can't guess what the words mean, you are going to continue reading. · Say: You have (15m) to read the passage silently, so keep reading and try to understand only the most important points. · After (5m) I'll say: You have another (10m) to finish the reading. .............After (5m)........ · After (15m) Say: If you didn't finish reading, try to read quickly next time. Don't spend a lot of time thinking about all the words you don't understand.
· Look at P/8. look at step #3 in Arabic, ask: What are you going to do now? Tell you (teacher) in Arabic what the passage is about. Ask S to tell the story to someone like a parent in Arabic. · Ask S look at P/9 and say in Arabic What they remember from this page and the others: ¨ P/9: Some of common reasons for fires starting. ¨ P/10: Six of the main reasons for fires in the home. ¨ P/11: Smoke detectors are very useful. We should practise or plan what to do in case of a fire. ¨ P/11: What to do if we wake up at night and there is a fire in the house. · Collect the readers to check that S have not written answers to ex's in later unit. |
